88 years using the same mirror!

It's time for a change...

Rearview Mirror History

The standard automobile rearview mirror has been in existence for over 88 years.

In 1911, the first Indianapolis 500-mile race was staged. The race was originally envisioned as a testbed for new ideas. In this first race, Ray Harroun installed a rectangular mirror mounted in front of and above his head, the first such use of a mirror. He won the race. Afterward, some of the other drivers accused Ray of cheating because he used the mirror.
